Nenad and Ilija, two dads, teamed up to go to take the lead for the Serbian Team in the Quarterfinal of the 2012 Davis Cup by BNP Paribas.

Both have played four ties already together and their balance is 3 wins compare to 1 loss. This are good requirements for the today´s doubles.

The score after the first day is 1-1 between the Czech Republic and Serbia. Viktor lost in the first round to Tomas and Janko defeated Radek after more than 5 hours in 5 sets.

The spirit of this team competition gives the best power and motivation to the team. Ziki and Ika will fight today on the court to get the 2nd point for Serbia, but all the team on the bench will give their best support to them to make the win as a TEAM. Not only the coaches, physios, doctors etc. are member of the team, all supporter on site and worldwide will support them to win this important point.

Nenad, played more than 40 ties for his country (incl. Yugoslavia, Serbia-Montenegro, and Serbia) is the most successful doubles player of Serbia. He will play an important role in this match but Ilija showed in several performances that he is a great doubles player, especially when it comes to present his country, to fight for the win and to WIN for SERBIA.

All players are honoured to present their country, only a few are selected to get this chance.

Saturday, 7th April 2012; 3 p.m. local time; Praha: Czech Republic – the battle will be ready to begin: Tomas Berdych, Radek Stepanek vs. Ilija Bozoljac, Nenad Zimonjic.

Davis Cup Quarterfinal CZE vs. SRB

It’s time for Davis Cup again!
The upcoming weekend, the quarterfinal against the Czech Republic takes place in Prague.
After J. Tipsarevic, V. Troicki and N. Zimonjic, Ilija is the Serbian’s number 4.
He is meant to play the doubles on Saturday, together with Nenad. In the last match they played in Davis Cup, they defeated the Indian double in an amazing match.

Sarejevo 2 fantastic wins – one close defeat

Sarajevo is only the 3rd tournament for Ilija this season. After the recovery of wrist and back injury he started into the Challenger there. In the first round he faced number 1 seed Andreas Beck but Ika showed that he is the stronger player and was able to beat the German 6-4 6-4.

The next round was against Marius Copil. The match could not be closer, both players fought very hard and Ilija was lucky to win 7-6 6-7 7-6.
Jan Mertl was waiting already for him in the quarterfinal. This match was played Friday evening. At the end the czech was luckier, he defend 3 Match points to win the match 7-6 4-6 7-6.

Even tough it was a good tournament for Ilija and he will play stronger in the next tournaments.

Ilija with WC into second round

lija comes back to Germany, this week he is playing the ATP Challenger in Wolfburg. There he got a WC for the main draw.
Stefan Seifert, a German lefthander was the opponent in the first round.
The match started late in the evening, because of long matches before, but Ilija started perfectly, he broke Seifert’s service immediatley. This was enough to win the first set 6-4.
The second set was dominated by the service games, until 5-5. With great fighting spirit and and amazing winners, Ilija got the game to serv for the match at 6-5.
Ilija won the match 6-4, 7-5.
The next opponent will be T. Schoorel (NED).

It´s Davis Cup Time…

It takes more than skill to play for your country. Davis Cup means to present your country,to play for your crowd,together with the other players in one team.

Ilija is nominated to present his country Serbia. The country where he grew up and his heart beats for, he wants the country to be proud of him when he shows his skills, his fighting spirit and his will to win for this team, for this nation and for all the people who believe in him and this team.

From Friday – Sunday, the first round of the 2012 Davis Cup by BNP Paribas is going to take place. Serbia will face Sweden.
The tie will be played in Nis, Serbia.
Nominated for Serbia are:
-Janko Tipsarevic
-Viktor Troicki
-Ilija Bozoljac
-Nenad Zimonjic

In the Swedish team are M. Ryderstedt, C. Bergman, F. Prpic and R. Lindstedt going to play.

The first match starts on Friday, 10th February, at 14:00 p.m.

Interclubs in France

Ilija is participating for AS BONDY at the annual interclub matches in France. November 12th was the first match day. Ilija lost his single match 4/6 7/6 6/1 against German Julian Reister. His team was playing against ASPTT METZ.
In doubles Ilija and his partner Baptise Dupuy beat the German duo Julian Reister and Andre Begemann 3/6 6/4 10/7.

All in all AS BONDY vs. ASPTT METZ ended 3:3.

Davis Cup Semifinal

Davis Cup Champion 2010 is going to play the Semifinal of the Davis Cup by BNP PARIBAS 2011 against Argentina in Belgrade. Beogradska Arena, the place where Serbia won the title, will be again the venue for Davis Cup. Ilija, as a long time member of the Team, is sparringspartner this week and will support his team mates, Novak Djokovic, Viktor Troicki, Janko Tipsarevic and Nenad Zimonjic as good as possible. He played with Nenad earlier this year in the first round tie and won the doubles.
The Argentinian team is: Juan Martin del Potro, Juan Monaco, David Nalbandian, Juan Ignacio Chela.

Friday will be the first Matches.

Ilija storms into final

Atpos, California – first final of the season. Last weekend Ilija has been at the quarterfinal of the davis cup between Sweden and Serbia and this weekend he is in the final of the ATP Challenger in Aptos! Another tough match this week, he beat Carsten Ball 76 63 yesterday! Today is the final against L. Grigelis!

We all wish Ilija good luck at this final! Idemooo Ika!
